Building a Mountain of Milk

The North Dartmouth Outreach Resource Centre (NDORC) is food bank located in the north end of Dartmouth. They give out 250 cans of evaporated milk a month to each of their clients and their families.

385 cans of evaporated milk.

In mid November Sunrise Yoga asked their members bring cans of milk with them when they came to their yoga, qigong or tai chi classes. The goal is to collect 506 cans of evaporated milk by the end of December 2018 and donate them to the North Dartmouth Food bank.

We have collected 494 cans of evaporated milk to date and we have two major fund-raising events to come.

Event #1 – Winter Solstice 108 Sun Salutes

On Friday December 21, Sunrise Yoga is hosting a 108 Sun Salute Celebration to mark the Winter Solstice. Each person completes 108 Sun Salutes to mark the darkest day of the year.

This event will be held at sunrise, 7 am, and again at sunset, 6:30 pm. Jack Godfrey is leading the sunrise event and Hugh dEntremont is leading the sunset event. Donations of a couple cans of evaporated milk is appreciated.

Event #2 – Year End Karma class

For those that find 108 Sun Salutes not a lot of fun we also are holding a Karma class on Sunday December 30 at 2 pm. The teacher donates their time, the studio donates the space and the participants donate to the designated charity or cause.

For this Karma class Crystal Macdonald is leading the yoga class in one of our practice space and Jack Godfrey is leading the qigong and tai chi class in the other practice space. Donations of a couple cans of evaporated milk is appreciated.
