The Qigong lineage dates back over 4000 years to monasteries in China and Korea. Through observing nature, ancient masters discovered that most suffering, poor health and unhappiness, connects to an unbalanced state of mind, body, and spirit. Through their observations and insights, they developed techniques to cultivate harmony, wellness and longevity. This was the birth of Qigong.

Tai Chi is a specific sequence of Qigong exercises that are connected by movements through out the practice space.  The Yang style 24 form Tai Chi is taught at Sunrise Yoga.  Individual Tai Chi exercises are included in the Getting started with Qigong and Intermediate Qigong classes.

Zen Wellness Medical Qigong is taught at Sunrise Yoga. It has its roots in the ancient Chinese health care system which integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention to open blockages in the body based on the same meridian system used in acupuncture.  The movements are simple and allow access to everyone. To begin to benefit you do not have to be fit; you don’t have to be flexible; you don’t even have to be able to stand up. What is required is the willingness to show up and do your best.

The exercises can be modified for almost anyone who wants to learn the Zen Wellness Medical Qigong system.

Advanced levels of training are available. We have 200 hour, 500 hour and 1000 hour programs to learn advanced techniques and principles of cultivation and longevity along with workshops, retreats, seminars and private instruction for students looking to deepen their practice and understanding of self and we have programs for those that want to become certified instructors and share this art with others.

You start with the Getting Started with Qi Gong classes. When ready you move on to Intermediate Qigong and finally join the Masters Path program 200 hour program.
