Hello, my name is Cheryl and I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching here, at Sunrise Yoga Studio. I have been a student at Sunrise since 2009, and I am looking forward to giving back to my students what the teachers at Sunrise have given to me: a happy, welcoming and inspiring yoga experience.
My path to yoga began in about 2004 when I bought a Rodney Yee VHS tape from a department store. For the next 5 years I practiced yoga with my tapes (and then DVDs) within the confines of my own home. For some reason I was terrified to go to an actual yoga class! Two years ago I finally went to my first yoga class in a studio, and I could not believe how much I was missing out on! My passion for yoga grew and grew to the point where I decided to become a teacher myself.
Currently, I am in the process of completing my 200 hour certification in the Kripalu yoga tradition through the Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training Program. My graduation will take place in July 2011. In the meantime, I will be completing my practice teaching component at Sunrise Yoga as a Student Teacher.
My yoga practice has given my life balance and has taught me to stay in the present moment. Life is so much more enjoyable not dwelling in the past or worrying about the future.
I live in Cole Harbour with my husband and our two extremely spoiled cats, Gobi and Maddy. My hobbies include reading, journaling, wine making and doing laundry. I love peppermint tea, fuzzy socks and snow. My favourite colour is gray and I also have an extreme weakness for chocolate.
I look forward to meeting you all and guiding you along your own yoga path.
